IntegratED With Jamie Palmer - A podcast for online entrepreneurs

Jul 30, 2019

If I hear one more time from someone that, “I don’t feel like I would say something like that”, I’m going to scream. I want to let you in on a little secret. If you’re doing social media in 2019 and expecting to attract clients, it’s not about you.

Marketing is about the client, the consumer, and the person on the other side who is watching you and thinking about working with you. When you make it all about you, you are failing at supporting your clients and taking them on a journey. This is an epidemic that I see going on and it’s driving me crazy. I’m not saying that you aren’t allowed to talk about your journey and how you got to the place that you are in now, but self-centered marketing is total BS.

If you’re listening to this and feel guilty, don't worry I’ve been there. But your social media is not going to convert if you make it all about you. One of my favorite shows is Mad Men and Don Draper says that it’s all about the consumer FEELING something. There has to be a spark that gets ignited in the consumer of the content so that they follow along and take action. You want to take that person on a journey. I’ve been doing a ton of reading and I can’t help myself from sharing that the One Thing and Building a Story Brand are going to change your marketing. Both break down how you can create an emotional pull for your potential clients and apply that to marketing. This is something that we’ve been doing already, but once you read that book a light bulb is going to go off in your brain around how you need to change your positioning when it comes to marketing. It’s all about setting up a story where your client is the main character who you guide along to their ultimate goal. If you need help getting the attention your business deserves, check out this episode!
